Why I love my job, and love helping you to love yours:

As someone who has had two satisfying careers in my life, I love helping people with all things career related. I strongly believe that people are happiest when they are fully engaged in a position that fits them and is a positive part of a well-lived life. Career change or evolution can be scary – but growth only exists outside of the comfort zone and it is important to evolve your career as you grow and change as a person.

Career counseling is an action-based process of co-creation and collaboration.

As a life-long visual artist, my first career was in the arts. I managed retail art galleries and spent 10 years as the director of a college art gallery. My career change "aha!" moment came after many satisfying years when I realized that the most rewarding part of my job was working with my interns and work study students.

I loved coaching them, helping them to brainstorm ideas and ways to navigate their academic careers and personal lives. I began my master’s degree and started steering my life in a new direction. From the first course I took in career counseling, I was hooked!

After graduating, I started working a part-time role as a professional academic mentor in addition to running the art gallery. It was a wonderful way for me to "prototype" my new career. From that point on, I never looked back.

I moved on to work as an academic advisor at Granite State College, which gave me a deep understanding of the academic process and the importance of academic advising as part of the career planning process. While working in that role, I proposed creating a career services department and after 5 years of writing proposals, I succeeded. Career Services at Granite State College was launched. I became the college's Director of Career Services, career counselor and instructor for the Career Development and Life Planning course that I created.

Granite State College serves non-traditional working students of all ages, so I was able to work with individuals from 16-65 who were at all stages of the career development cycle. Because of this, I have deep experience working with all types of career issues from finding a new position, advancing within your chosen field, or even reframing your thinking to love your current job again. I loved every minute of my work at GSC, but opening Career Clarity New England will allow me to serve a wider variety of people and take my work to the next level.
